Jerry Saltz delivers a buzzkill from London’s Frieze art fair. If his assessment of the art market is correct, we could actually be entering a renewal in the art world. In difficult financial times, New Museum curator Laura Hoptman says:

Art will flower and triumph not as a hobby, an investment, or a career, but as what it is and was—a life.

That sounds kinda cool even if it means some will suffer in the short-term.
